Two Ways to Look at People
EuroMetrics gives you two related views of the people on your site: Sessions (individual visits) and Visitors (people across visits). Together they let you move from “what happened in this visit” to “how this person behaves over time”.
Sessions
A session is a single continuous visit. Open Sessions for a website to see them in two tabs:
- Activity: a table of individual sessions with browser, OS, and device; country, region, and city; the first-visit time and duration; and the number of events. Click a row to open the session’s details.
- Properties: a breakdown of session properties (including any custom data you attach), shown as key-value distributions.
Use the date range and filters in the controls bar to narrow what you see.
Visitors
The Visitors view groups activity by person rather than by visit, so you can see how often someone returns and what they do across sessions. It shows a searchable, paginated list of visitors with their visit counts and most recent activity. Click a visitor to drill into their history.
Visitors Requires Fingerprinting
Reliable cross-visit visitor identification depends on fingerprinting being enabled. If it is off, the Visitors page explains this and points you to enable it. Sessions, by contrast, work without fingerprinting. See Cookie Consent and Fingerprinting to turn it on (it requires a signed DPA and a consent banner).
Sessions vs. Visitors
Sessions | Visitors | |
|---|---|---|
Unit | One visit | One person over time |
Best for | What happened in a visit | Returning behavior, loyalty |
Needs fingerprinting | No | Yes |
